I have seen some cute nails, and some crazy ones that are trending right now. Cosmopolitan has some great ideas for your Christmas mani.
I noticed a recurring theme in the French mani, done with different colors and designs. Here is one way you can make a French mani with any Color Street set. You can also apply a coat of Nail Strengthener or Plumping Top Coat over the top instead of a clear nail strip.
The Mixed Mani is very popular right now. It used to be just one accent nail that was different, but now we are seeing different patterns and colors on all of the nails. I tend to wear the same on all my nails most of the time, but I do need to step out of my comfort zone and try some of these mixes. They look really fun! My problem is that I am not that creative. I need someone to get me started with some ideas, then I can tweak them and come up with my own variation. I have posted some photos that I found to help you come up with some ideas if you also need some inspiration.
I am also seeing more short nails. With the addition of gel nail polish, more women are opting to skip the extensions or tips, and just get polish over their natural nails. I love long nails, but now that I spend the majority of my day typing, I don't keep them as long as I used to. I have also found that it is much easier to text and do things on my phone if my nails aren't too long.
If you are putting regular polish or Color Street nail strips on your natural nails, don't peel it off! Use a gentle non-acetone nail polish remover. If you peel it off, it will peel off some of the layers of your nail, and leave them weaker and more prone to breaking. Using nail clips is an excellent way to remove nail polish. If you have never used them, they are wonderful! You just take a small piece of a cotton ball or a cotton round (I cut mine into quarters), put some nail polish remover on it, place it on top of your nail, then put the clip over it. Do this on all five fingers of one hand, then take a few minutes to relax while the nail clips do the work. Then, remove the clip and cotton, wiping the nail clean. So easy!
